Escaque Terms of Service Version 1.0

Preliminary Note: These Terms of Service (also known as Terms and Conditions of Use) are under development, as is the escaque.org website and its subdomains. As we implement new services or features, we will update this policy to reflect such changes, keeping it always accessible in the footer of the main domain and its subdomains.

1. Welcome to Escaque

1.1. Introduction

Thank you for using the Escaque platform and the products, services and features we make available to you as part of it (collectively, the "Service").

1.2. Our Service

The Service allows you to discover and share information and knowledge, as well as other types of content, in relation to the three subdomains that make up Escaque, namely:

chess.escaque.org insight.escaque.org math.escaque.org

They provide a portal for people to connect, inform and inspire each other. It also functions as an educational platform for all ages, promoting original content. You'll find information about our memberships and programs in our Help Center.

1.3. Technical Provider

The "Numbers, Chessboards and Figures" portal originated in the mid-1990s, initially hosted on Chasque, a pioneering initiative in Uruguay promoted by the Third World Institute (ITeM) and linked to the Association for Progressive Communications (APC). Chasque was a reference in the use of communication technologies for social purposes, offering telematic services since 1989 and, from 1995, Internet access under the subdomain chasque.apc.org.

In 1999, Chasque migrated to its independent domain (chasque.net), which required progressive updating of our portal's links. Subsequently, in 2006, Chasque was acquired by Montevideo Portal, keeping the chasque.net domain as a redirect.

Finally, in 2024, "Numbers, Chessboards and Figures" adopted its current domain (escaque.org), hosted on montevideo.com.uy servers, whose technical team manages its infrastructure.

For more historical details about Chasque's beginnings, see "A Bit of History".
